My high school freshman English teacher, Denelle, and I have been close from our first class together. She is also part of my inspiration to becoming a librarian, along with Jeri the YA librarian. Denelle promoted the library and events they held, which is how my friends and i met Jeri. Both lovely ladies were always at the library. Denelle just got married in October to a wonderful man, Dave, and it’s been awesome to watch their fairytale unfold. Since libraries are dear to her heart, as well as mine, and part of their love story, they decided to have their wedding right in their town of Red Bank, NJ at the Eisner Memorial Library. They were able to walk from their house to the library, get married, then walk to the reception and walk home from there. In the beginning of their courtship, Dave managed to find a first edition John Steinbeck (her favorite) to give to her. At the wedding, that book served as their ring “pillow.” She knows about my love of libraries AND photography and asked me to take their wedding photos. I followed Denelle around snapping shots and I got a behind the scenes tour of the library—the upstairs served as her waiting room, where she relaxed and prepped for the ceremony and the beautiful meeting room downstairs was where the ceremony was held. It was a very small, intimate wedding and I loved every minute! I’m a bit jealous I can’t also use this theme now! Here are some photos from that day.
